We recommend that you clean the thermometer thoroughly after each use. If there is food residue left on the thermometer, especially the end (above the black part), your MeatMate may not charge properly and the battery may discharge even when it is in the charger. We recommend using the rough side of a sponge and some washing up liquid to clean it.
If you have been using your thermometer in a smoker for a long time, you may also need to scrub the metal part of the top clean with sandpaper, as (invisible to the eye) a lot of scale builds up over time.
